Throwaway culture (where things are made to last a short period of time before they are thrown away) has convinced us that we need to buy new garments every season to keep up to date. That is simply not true, and this mindset is what’s harming our planet.
So let’s make switching up your clothes season to season as green as we can.
The key to sustainable fashion is ensuring you have pieces you will love all year round and that are versatile enough to be worn in as many seasons as possible. (You can always swap for what you don’t have through Bandi later too!) But where to start? Well, don’t worry, we have done the hard work for you, restyling your summer faves to take them into the colder seasons. Now you can just sit back, relax and think about all the amazing outfits you’ll be putting together in no time.
Strappy Dresses
THE summer classic. They are light, breezy and super feminine. Perfect for lazing around the countryside in a summer’s haze, not so much for the British weather. Here, you want to think about layers. Pop a T-shirt or rollneck underneath for a laid back vibe, or throw a silk blouse over the top and tie it at the waist for that main character moment. We love adding knee-high boots and a leather jacket for a touch of grunge.
Mini Skirts
Super cute and playful, mini skirts are so cute that we can’t bear to hide them away in our wardrobe until next year. The easiest solution? Tights. Anyone can throw on a pair of tights, but why not try some of the funkier patterned tights that have re-emerged? This pairing will look perfect if your skirt is a neutral colour, letting the two complement each other. Add (of course) knee-high boots and a duster coat for a classy yet edgy look.
Silk Scarves
This summer has been all about the scarf tops, and we love them, but they aren’t exactly going to keep you warm as the seasons change. So, why not take that same scarf and tie it in your hair or around your waist for that 70s style, or take inspiration from the 50s by wearing it over your hair or around your neck.
Wide Leg Trousers
Those wide leg trousers everyone has been wearing all summer? Well, guess what. It’s time to bring them into Autumn and Winter too. They might be light and floaty, but think of that as just extra space for all the layers you can fit underneath! Tights, leggings and giant woolly socks can all be hidden under these trousers, keeping you toasty.
